• Due to the popularity and high demand for our summer camps, we request you bring the application and a deposit of $175 to our office in order to reserve your spot. ​

• Reservations are first come, first served.

• Sign-ups start at 8:00 am on April 1st.

Camper requirements:

• Campers must be between the ages of 8 – 17 and love horses!

• Must have health/medical coverage – we do not provide this coverage

Program Overview:

​

• Campers learn basic care and custody of horses over the week and receive instruction in western trail riding. They will learn terminology, riding skills, and general horse care.

Outline of Activities:

​

• Campers are assigned a horse they will work with throughout the entire week. Horses are matched with children based on their size, personality, and experience.

• Groundwork: Campers learn to groom, saddle and lead a horse.

• Care and Custody: Campers will learn what it takes to care for a horse – everything from shoeing and nutrition to exercise.

• Arena Riding: Campers will do some arena riding to learn control and balance on horseback. This includes participation in obstacles.

• Trail Riding: Campers will do several trail rides throughout the week where they will use the skills they acquired in the arena to negotiate natural trail obstacles.

• Actual time with the horses: Campers will spend the vast majority of the camp day working with their horse either on the ground or under saddle.

General Information:

• Due to Covid-19 mandated precautions camp sizes have been reduced.

• Please indicate your preference for session times, 8:00 AM-12:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, we will do our best to accommodate.

• Please notify the camp instructor when you are dropping your child off or if he/she must be picked up early.

• Please notify camp staff is someone other than you (parent or guardian) will be picking up the child.

• Please use our “Camp Checklist” to make sure your child has everything he/she needs for camp.

Expectations:

• Treat people, animals, and equipment with respect

• To promote training in responsibility and self-sufficiency, campers help clean up - this includes manure, and participate in barn management and other chores as necessary. Part of horse ownership is picking-up and cleaning up 

• Use or possession of tobacco or drugs is not tolerated, nor is stealing, vandalism, endangering others, or bullying. The right is reserved by the director to dismiss any camper who is judged detrimental to the general welfare of the group. In such cases, no refund will be made.

• We do not encourage bringing expensive electronic equipment such as iPods, Gameboys, cell phones, etc. and the camp can not be held responsible for loss or damage to such items. Please do not send campers with computers or other delicate electronic equipment, expensive jewelry, or inappropriate clothes. This is supposed to be an outside adventure, so please encourage your child to "unplug" from technology and enjoy being in nature with the animals.

• Can I call today and tell someone to hold a spot for my child?

  • Simply put, no. All paperwork must be received starting April 1st and include a $175.00 deposit.

• My child went to *insert name of camp* and he/she only rode a few minutes a day and only walked - is this camp going to be like that?

  • No. We move children who are ready, both physically and mentally, into a trot. We also make sure every student enrolled in the week of camp always has a horse to ride and love on for the majority of every camp day. We do arena riding, trail riding, and even groundwork. Multiple children are not assigned the same horse.

• My child went to *insert name of camp* and they mostly did crafts - is your camp going to be like that?

  • No. We believe if you signed up for horse camp, all activities should be horse related. Your child will either be caring for a horse, riding a horse, or learning more about horses the entire time they are at camp.

• What do they do during camp?

  • Please see "Outline of Activities" above.

• Can my child request a specific horse?

  • No. We assign horses based on the child's size, experience, and personality for the safety of the child and the horse.

• Who are the camp instructors?

  • The same instructors who currently give lessons at our facility are the same instructors who will be teaching summer camp. They are first aid and CPR certified and have many years of riding experience. All counselors have prior experience teaching summer camp or are considered "counselors in training" and are under the direct, constant supervision of the camp wrangler counselors.
