Offering horseback trail rides, riding lessons, and horse boarding just a short drive from Sacramento!


We are available for reservations year-round! If the office isn't open, give us a call and leave us a message and we'll get back to you as soon as we can!
Remember, reservations must be made at least one day in advance of your anticipated ride date! RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY PHONE OR IN PERSON. We do not do reservations by e-mail.

Effective December 15th we will not be scheduling private lessons on weekdays until Spring 2012. Please keep this in mind when planning your winter and early spring riding schedule. We still have availability for lessons on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the winter, weather permitting. Thank you!

Also, please note - Weekday trail rides are available on a limited basis during the months of December and January. Please plan accordingly.

Shadow Glen Family Stables is the premier trail riding, lesson, and boarding stable in the Sacramento Area. Located on state park land for over 30 years, there are miles and miles of trails just waiting to be ridden! From the bluffs overlooking Lake Natoma, to the creek-side trails below, Shadow Glen has a horse waiting for you.

Perhaps you already own a horse, and are looking for somewhere to board your beauty. Look no further. With 50 covered paddocks (cleaned daily), twice-a-day feeding, 24-hour supervision, and regular vet clinics, you can rest assured that your friend will be well taken care of.

Saturday and Sunday Special for December & January!
  • Ride must be taken on a Saturday or Sunday before January 31 to qualify for the special.
  • This time of year all rides are “weather permitting” and this offer will not be extended to other months if ride is canceled due to weather.
  • You must mention this special when making telephone reservations.
  • This offer does not include gift certificate purchases, or use of gift certificates.
  • Normal riding restrictions do apply see “Rides” page of this website for details.
  • Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance
